Lifetime Health Benefits for Union County Retirees

The latest benefits scandal in New Jersey is former governor Jim Mcgreevey getting taxpayers of Hudson County to pay his health insurance premiums for life which could wind up costing them, with inflation, a million dollars.

This got me to wondering how many former Union County employees are having their health benefits paid for by Union County taxpayers and who they are.  Based on a response to an OPRA that provided a list of individuals with their monthly premiums it was easy enough to develop this summary by group:

Feel free to go through the billing for June by individual for recognizable names.  Among those I noticed:

  • Childs, R. FAMILY 1,266.11
  • DeFilippo, C. SINGLE  412.21
  • DeVanney, G. FAMILY 1,598.39
  • LaSpata, D.  P&C  1,524.03
  • Vaniska, D.H. SINGLE 582.15
  • Caroselli, L.  2ADULT  $784.55
  • Cryan, J. FAMILY 1,598.39

Say JB1-that last name-is that the nefarious sheriff J cryan, the disease on union county govt?, or another different leach of the cryans? A search of retiree records do not show any cryan retired from union county. Did the fereeholders sneak someone on the payroll for a couple months to get that health benny like Hudson and mcgreevey?

Geesh, this sounds like another criminal action perpetrated by the FHs and the govt disease, cryan, on the poor overtaxed, overburdened residents of union county. A 19,000 health benefit bill dumped on us, every year until the disease dies out.

union county, the most corrupt county in NJ, AKA “the soprano county. Cryan certainly merits a chapter all his own….call it “Cryan, the incurable affliction on us residents”. Sad, so sad how the taxpayers are just deep pockets for the politically connected.

Its very odd that the Independent Newspaper doesn’t have this information about Ex UC Manager George Devanney. Why should taxpayers have to pay for his benefits he is retired. Most of the county workers have to offset their pay for his privlidges..

How long do family members get to stay on these taxpayer funded for life benefits. It would seem to me that if you are retired, your kids would be grown or at least they should be, no? Regardless, this is sick.
