Buying Election (3) – Clerk Money

The position of Union County Clerk was also up for election last week.  Incumbent Democrat Joanne Rajoppi was reelected with 35,359 votes over her Republican challenger Joseph G. Aubourg who got 20,248 votes with 40 votes for ‘Personal Choice’.  In the Democrat primary Joanne Rajoppi ran unopposed getting 12,052 votes with 18 votes for ‘Personal Choice’.

According the NJELEC website Joseph G. Aubuorg reported $0 donated and $0 spent.  Joanne Rajoppi reported $52,021 donated and $44,360 spent (with another report due to be filed later this month).

Among the donors were your printing companies (B&B Press, Royal Printing, RPS Printing), labor unions (Local 861, Eastern Millwright), county employee (Nicol DiRado), and regular Democrat donors and county vendors (Maser Consulting, Business & Gov’t Ins Agency – Acrisure).

But the interesting part is where a lot of that money went:

  • 6/1/15:- Victory 2015 Union County Democratic Comm – $12,600
  • 10/7/15: Victory 2015 – $10,000
  • 10/15/15: Committee to Elect Figueiredo & Delisfort (Union Twp Dem candidates) – $1,500

With an opposition spending literally no money and after paying for the de rigueur mailers and lawn signs there was money left over in the Rajoppi account to spread around on other races to which it might have been ‘inconvenient’ for those donors to be seen giving directly.

Lots of donations given to the democrats that these printing companies give. Yet no job employment positions are ever appointed since 2003.
