UCCF 1/21/16: Frustrating Questions

The next few blogs will examine the pay-to-play world of Union County government as we look at each vendor individually, all of  whom donated to political campaigns (mostly Democrat freeholders) and got their payback at the last freeholder meeting. But first, for those of you who have questions on all the bizarre spending (or those who used to question but stopped coming to meetings out of frustration) here are a few examples of  the hit-and-miss nature of the process kicking off with the denouement:

.
Some on those resolutions, questions, and quasi-answers:
.
2016-61: Authorizes the County Manager to adjust and/or change the Internal Position Control Schedules.
.

.
2016-74: Authorizing the County Manager to award a contract to This Is It! Productions, Inc., Hoboken, New Jersey to provide the planning, production and management services for the 2016 Concert Series in the amount not to exceed $109,650.
2016-75: Authorizing the County Manager to award a contract to This Is It! Productions of Hoboken, New Jersey to provide the planning, production and management services for the 2016 Rhythm and Blues by the Brook Concert at Cedar Brook Park, Plainfield to be held on June 4, 2016 in an amount not to exceed $120,000.
.

.
2016-98: Authorizing the County Manager to sign any and all documents necessary to enter into a Collective Bargaining Agreement with PBA 108A–Sheriff Superior Officers effective January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2017.
.

.
2016-79: Awarding a contract to Specialty Underwriters Insurance Company, Oak Creek, Wisconsin, to provide insurance coverage to the County’s office machinery, laundry equipment and lab equipment, for the period of January 1, 2016 through December 31, 2016 in the mount not to exceed $300,000.00.

UCWA Announcement: a meeting where you will not be shut up will be held on Wednesday, February 3 at 7pm at the offices of the Union County Watchdog Association (1155 W. Chestnut Street, Suite 2B, Union) and all are invited.

We are looking to expand our volunteer (and paid) base to cover better the workings of Union County government, specifically as it pertains to each municipality.  Ideally we would want one representative from each town to report on issues that come up as it may relate to the county. You could be anonymous or get a blog byline but of most importance is not to miss anything as it germinates or you too could wake up one day with bulldozers in your park.

No need to confirm.  There is a large meeting area and drop-ins will be welcome.  You can get directions here (it’s right next to Costco). There is plenty of parking behind the building. You have to enter from the W. Chestnut Street side and go up two floors to Suite 2B. This invitation will be on the bottom of the next few blogs as a reminder but if you have any questions or comments you can always email me at john@burypensions.com or call (973)-783-4477 or even comment here.

Did “This is it Productions” ever pay back the money that they allegedly were overpaid?

Hard to keep up with the Union County Freeholder corruption since it seems to be a daily occurrence.
