Scotch Plains Salaries

Based on this back and forth…

I got the impression that Scotch Plains Township Manager Al Mirabella got a raise because everybody else in Scotch Plains got a raise and this was only fair. It was also not mentioned what the $145,000 he was hired at was raised to so I decided to OPRA salary data for all Scotch Plains employees and, for those of you out there who are wont to call Al Mirabella a pig…..

This probably won’t change your mind.

Comparing salaries for 2015 and 2016 overall payroll went up by 5% from $8.47 million to $8.9 million but that increase was primarily due to hiring six new police officers.  Of the 130 named employees on the 2016 listing 80 got no raises while the base raise for the Police Department seems to have been 1%.  Of the four highest paid township employees three got no raise.

From the spreadsheet sorted by 2016 salaries:

JB1-Ref the construction code official listed near the top: from the comprehensive Data Universe public employee database that says it is updated to 2015 based on their retrieved data, but no guarantee: on Scotch plains, it shows the construction official Robert lacostas salary at $125,243 not $168,628. link:

That’s a $43,000 jump he got somewhere. Even getting a promotion cant do that, unless he be politically connected like the big 4% pig Mirabella. But I don’t know lacosta to say anything questionable. Maybe another reader can confirm this discrepancy.

and again for the top earner majeski: from Data Universe, her salary from 3 public jobs is $222,000 total. here’s the link:

It may be a shared service type set up, where majeski does finance for smaller towns? All in all, can you picture a non-law enforcement public employee walking away with a $222,000 salary, possibly just for a 40 work week. No wonder big pig Mirabella is jealous, wants more more more!
