Sad to say but this is how it works land use planning wise: (sent to the Parks Director.. no response and can’t be attached)…

In order to try and educate you some I am attaching a simple sheet which kind out outlines the land use planning process and how should have approached the entire Watchung ATB plan. And everything else in the park system. Your suppose to inventory and analyze the site… quantify all the soils, slopes, vegetation, hydrology, etc. in the Watchung Reservation, establish a design program, combine these two ideas together through suitability and from that establish a Land Use Plan (a Functional Diagram), from that you add an aesthetic organization mechanism and presto… you produce a Master Plan! From this plan you produce construction drawings and a maintenance plan. It’s called: “The Site Planning Process.”

Note I would like to add a few diagrams (that would be worth a thousand words) but don’t see a way. For better or worse I am UCs first professional and institutional LA. They pushed me out of the organization, but sadly the public and environment suffers. It’s ridiculous a 500k group of citizens with a 500 million dollar a year budget operates without the professional guidance of a licensed landscape architect. (the proven experts at land use planning). Regardless, but the profession of landscape architecture should be re-establishing into the UC government and problems like this wouldn’t exist.

sean, they are possibly waiting for a Landscape architect to donate to their election campaigns before they go out to “hire someone”. In the county political machine’s own words: “you have to prove yourself” (ie: enable and promote corruption in union county and the riches will shower you). Sorry to hear you were tossed away, did you use the words “i’m too honest to do that” or “i have to follow the code of ethics” right before you were shown the door?

Hello, thank you for the response. The first point is that ‘parks or gardens’ reveals one’s souls”… thus dealing with this, gets at the heart of what is going on behind the scenes.

Here is the story: facts are since I was “laid off” versus being fired, if Union County ever hires another landscape architect I have first choice at the position. The reason they don’t want me is I stick for the Olmsted Park ideals… doesn’t work good when you are running a ‘play to play agenda.’

Besides me, the greatest damage has been to the parks, health safety and welfare of 6000 acres of public open space… public dangers… giant finance losses… no problem as long as we can keep BSing people and stay in power. Its simply wrong… a 500 million dollar a year government serving 500,000 people operates without a landscape architect in the year 2017.

Hundreds of public safety issues in play and hundred’s of thousands of taxpayer money losses. Example… a small fortune paid for a sensor trail in Watchung Reservation. I did a health garden for Linda Stendser at Overlook Hospital… if I could figure out to display the drawings I would… a good project.

Point is they paid me 30k per year and I did 10-20 LA projects per year… it’s a human and public safety disgrace UC operates withouyt an institution LA on staff. It’s a new profession but like a doctor has a lot to do with public safety and welfare… why it is licensed and regulated profession.

Sad facts are I should be working there and in a few years get an intern LA so the system could go forward. A funny professional name, but look into it Landscape Architecture has a lot to do with the health safety and welfare of the public. Its a travesty UC operates with this professional involvement in 2017.

The good news is that I am working with powerful citizens organization and we are registering the Rahway River Parkway… it will bring a lot more scrutiny to what goes on. All across the USA Olmsted Parks… NYC Central Park, Prospect Park, Louisville, Seattle, Boston, Buffalo, etc. the same pattern happens… the government fails, citizens organize… lots of works but a Conservancy forms and the parks get restored… go to Central Park NYC and then go to Warinanco (you should look at the Olmsted Master Plan and what fragments exist today.

Regardless will keep trying… again, the truth has a funny way of coming to the surface and again… parks or gardens reveals one’s soul. So what they do, or don’t do to the Olmsted Park System says a lot about their overall philosophy.
