Banning Politics When It Gets In the Way of Political Donations

At the end of this week’s Kenilworth council meeting:

Yet when it was brought to the council’s attention that an engineering firm was scamming the borough out of millions of dollars politicians awaiting their next donation from that firm shut down talk that would obviously be for the good of Kenilworth but not for the good of their campaign coffers.

Here is what prompted that politics talk this time and what Union County is doing about potential criticism.

Here is how Union County handles it:

Here is the line from their bylaws:

No speaker shall make any inflammatory personal comments or attacks, threats or engage in the use of vulgar comments or profanity.

Inflammatory being subjective and, I daresay, would have shut up Mahatma Gandhi and Martin Luther King most times, and I note that we are all people. This essentially precludes all speech.

Here, again, is that offending paragraph that violated the rules that Union County politicians set:

How much do the Commissioners know about what’s going on? With Hudak as Finance Chair and liaison he knows exactly what is going on. He is too close to Oatman and Scutari and defends Taylor above and beyond anyone else. As far as Mirabella it is no secret he is weak and would never question the leadership risking his cushy role. Is this why he was chairman for two years? They know he is weak and would allow this scam to proceed. What about the rest of them? Granados is only worried about photo-ops and focused on becoming mayor. Kowalski, Mouded, Leone, and Williams are clueless. Garretson is the strongest and most aggressive on the board. That’s why they won’t allow her to be chair. If I were them I would be in Oatman’s office demanding to know what is going on. He works for them!
